Project description

Green Pea is Oscar Farinetti’s new eco-friendly bet. A new store that is born in Turin next to the first Eataly store inaugurated more than eleven years ago, a stone’s throw from the Lingotto. This project is only the first step towards the broad redevelopment plan of the area between Eataly and the railway.

The goal was to build a green retail park: a complex dedicated to the sale of durable goods made through a strictly ecological cycle. The companies called to create the products for the Green Pea brand will have to commit themselves to guaranteeing a high profile of sustainability in the production processes. Inside the park there are also information and exhibition spaces dedicated to the issue of eco-sustainability.

Construction technologies are characterized by the respect for nature and the use of sustainable materials. For the architectural, structural and plant design, the most advanced environmental strategies have been adopted with the choice of solutions aimed at energy efficiency and the reduction of CO 2 emissions into the atmosphere, with the use of renewable energy sources.

Significant aspects of the project

The load-bearing structures of the floors above ground, in accordance with the main theme of the building or “sustainability”, were designed and built in metal carpentry. Steel is in fact 100% recyclable for infinite times without losing any of its original properties; this makes it a real “permanent resource” at the basis of the “produce-consume-recover” concept.
In this project it has been of fundamental importance the structural design of the facade, is very complex to form for building typology, the main steel structure and brise -Soleil in wood. Recourse to the development of prefabrication systems and pre-assembly in the workshop are RESULT or winning to hold the assembly time and guarantee delivery on time.
