Project description
The student residence on Rimesse street in Bologna represents an important urban regeneration project, as well as an innovative response to the housing needs of university students, who face increasing housing pressure in the city. The project, undertaken by CA Ventures, a global real estate investment management company, revitalizes the area of the former Tre Stelle, once an ice factory, through the demolition of most of the current structures, except for two listed buildings – the former farmhouse and the former ice factory. The new building will be eight stories above ground and will serve as accommodation for students, while a basement level will provide parking for private cars. There will be a total of 472 rooms, all with a kitchenette – 61 doubles and 411 singles – for a total of 533 beds. To better connect the student residence to the surrounding infrastructure, a public parking lot will also be built on the adjacent Sante Vincenzi street. The project will be completed with new green areas and a pedestrian and bicycle path.
CEAS was responsible for the structural and geotechnical design at all stages, in compliance with the constraints imposed by the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio, carrying out the seismic retrofitting of the existing buildings to be preserved and developing the design of the new constructions.
